Spotting leopards
It’s an exciting experience to see leopards in Sri Lanka’s national parks, particularly in Wilpattu, the largest park with a variety of habitats, and Yala, which is renowned for having a high density of leopards. In addition to elephants, Udawalawe’s grasslands are home to leopards. Whereas Gal Oya offers a more sedate encounter, Horton Plains offers a distinctive highland woodland backdrop for sightings. Expertly guided trips increase the likelihood of seeing these elusive cats, but patience is necessary.
